Independent Cavy Clubs
Capital Cavy Club is a proud member of independent cavy clubs.
Independent New Zealand Cavy Clubs are clubs which continue to hold shows under the rules and standards of the New Zealand Cavy Judges Association and are independent from the new body, New Zealand Cavy Council, which has been formed recently. We hold an annual Nationwide Cavy Show at Labour Weekend which is open to members of any Cavy Club in New Zealand.
Therefore, our sibling clubs are: New Zealand Cavy Club, North Canterbury Guinea Pigs, Northern Rabbit and Guinea Pig Club, Taranaki Cavy Group, NZ Unique Cavies, Hamilton and Waikato Cavy Club.

Stud Names
Capital Cavy Club follows the independent clubs stud register. The Independent Clubs Stud Register was put in place by the New Zealand Cavy Club when it was formed in 1976. Later for some years it was maintained in conjunction with the Combined Cavy Clubs of NZ until the CCCNZ ceased to exist in April 2015, when the register reverted back to the NZCC only.
Angela Goose maintains the register on behalf of NZCC. Once accepted, a stud name is the property of the applicant for life with no extra annual fees.

New Zealand Judges Association
As Capital Cavy Club operates under the independent cavy clubs, we operate under the NZ judges association.
The New Zealand Cavy Judges Association (NZCJA) was formed when purebred cavies were first imported into New Zealand by Jack Whitworth (1976). Jack began to train judges to the English standard and the Association was formed as a result. NZCJA judges have been officiating at New Zealand Cavy Shows ever since.
The show standards are available on their website.
